If you haven’t stepped foot on a playground in a few years, you’ll probably notice that some of your old favorite games have been altered in appearance or renamed to suit modern requirements.

In some cases, certain types of playground equipments have become obsolete due to new safety guidelines or the terminology has become outdated. Some types of playground equipment have been discontinued altogether due to being out of compliance with modern safety standards. But even if safety guidelines have changed, that doesn’t mean you won’t see some familiar playground items installed on new sites.

Note: If you want any type of Playground Equipment in India. So, G.N Enterprises is here for you. They are the best and leading Playground Equipment Manufacturers in Jaipur. They manufacture and sell all types of playground equipments. If you want just check our website and contact us.

1. Merry-Go-Round

The merry-go-round, also known as a playground spinner, roundabout or carousel, is one of the classic playground fixtures that daredevils love to push to its limits. This spinning device allows children to jump and spin as fast as possible by pushing off the ground to develop speed. While this type of playground equipment is still quite common, "merry-go-round" is no longer a broad enough term to cover many types of spinning playground equipment.

2. The Seesaw

Another familiar entry on the list of favorite playground equipment is the seesaw - also known as the teeter-totter. The CPSC handbook mentions that traditional fulcrum teeter-totters should limit their maximum angle to 25 degrees, and partial car tires or other shock-absorbing materials should be used to reduce impacts. The safest version of the seesaw has a spring center, which prevents a hard landing for one rider if the other rider falls off.

3. Giant Stride

This device hasn't been seen in about half a century, and is not recommended by the CPSC.

The giant stride consists of a tall pole driven into the ground. Ropes with ladder-like rods hang down so that children can grab them. The idea is that children grab the rods and run for their lives as fast as they can, sometimes even hovering above the ground for a few moments while “flying” or spinning. In addition to its lack of access, the giant stride also causes children to bump into each other or the pole.

4. Monkey Bars

In their classic form, monkey bars are a horizontal ladder suspended above the ground by straight poles. They allow children to jump and swing from one bar to another, much like chimpanzees. Monkey bars were also commonly a feature of large jungle gyms, giving children the opportunity to climb and swing in different directions.

While monkey bars are still loved and found in playgrounds everywhere, the basic design has been updated and changed in so many ways – it's no longer just a horizontal ladder – that you sometimes need more specific terminology to describe it. When someone refers to a "ring climber," they're talking about one of many monkey bar adaptations.

5. Still Rings

Still rings – like the rings used in gymnastics, and the rings hung from long chains on playgrounds – are still a vital part of playgrounds. It's common to see these labeled as therapeutic hand rings with short chains. Children can practice their upper body strength by supporting their body weight while hanging from the rings.
